Enjoy the Modern Life

Create new episodes with your favorite characters in one of four brand-new scene sets. Tell your next family drama, create your own soap opera, or write the next heartwarming romance. Simply load a scene set, add your characters, and start directing your story.

Making the Impossible Possible

All scene sets go beyond the tools Moviestorm's Set Workshop offer. To redesign existing props all textures are embedded in the set. Walls are thicker, higher, or even stacked to create taller rooms and larger windows. The sets "Black" and "White" even have a reflective tile floor.

Works with Base

Despite the complexity of the scenes they all work with the Base version. You don't any additional addon! All required textures are embedded in the set.

Please Note!

The images marked "Example only" are suggestions. They're not included in the set.

What Modern Life v2 offers you:

  • 4 exclusively designed scene sets
  • Alternative installation: install as addon or copy folders to your "Stock" folder
  • Works with Base — no additional addons required
  • All textures embedded in the set

  • Special terrain lifts the scene above the city lights
  • Two different cityscapes

Version 2 from Dec 20, 2013

  • since Moviestorm 1.6 even transparent props are tintable
  • all leather sofas are now tintable (Black & White, Lounge)
  • translucent curtains are now tintable (Upholstered)
  • the pool has an improved texture, fully tintable (Black & White)
  • the bath towel now accepts a user image (Black & White)
  • translucent props are now tintable (Lounge)

I moved, rescaled, or deleted a part of the scene. What do I do now?

Immediately press the "Undo" button. Some props and walls are designed in a way Moviestorm's Set Workshop does not support. If you're in doubt save your movie first, then try to adjust the wall or prop. If things don't work they way you want dismiss the changes and reload the movie.

I opened the "Lounge" but the stools are black and not tintable. What's wrong?

For some reason Moviestorm does not load some of the textures even though they're present. Save the movie, go back to the splash screen, and reload it. If this doesn't work it is because Moviestorm cached the textures. In this case, unfortunately, you have to restart Moviestorm. Load the movie and all the textures are there.

I tried to click a puppet or prop, but somehow the sofa blocks them. What's broken?

Nothing is broken. In order to achieve a new design with existing props the textures use transparency. Unfortunately, Moviestorm does not take that into consideration. That means you click on an invisible part of the sofa. Simply rotate the view a bit so you can access the puppet or prop from a different angle.

I made changes to the set and saved it to the stock. Why are some textures missing when I use my stock set?

Unfortunately Moviestorm only saves some of the user images or textures when adding a scene to the stock. The safest thing to do is to change the scene before adding characters, save it as a movie, and use that movie as a template.

How can I add my own skyline to the backdrop at the "Lounge"?

You cannot do this in the Set Workshop because the image is also used for the emitting effect. If you want your own image, copy the folder "Modern Life Lounge" to your "Stock" folder. Open the folder, find the images "Images_city-fountain.jpg" or "Images_san-francisco.jpg". You can replace these images with your own, the size is 2048 x 640 px.

Alternatively you can change the images in your movie folder. After saving your movie, quit Moviestorm, go to the "Movies" folder, and open your movie folder, e.g. "My Movie". Find the folder "Images", inside are the two images named "city-fountain.jpg" and "san-francisco.jpg". Replace them with your own images, restart Moviestorm, and load your movie.

Remember that the images are also emissive; if the picture is too light in Moviestorm, you have to darken the image, e.g. with Photoshop or Gimp.
